Rockets big man Steven Adams is always one for keeping it real and at Houston’s media day he certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Rockets center warned there will be a decline in performance from players, coaches and scouts across the NBA and other professional sports like NFL – once the highly-anticipated ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ game drops.
“You guys should anticipate November,” Adams told the NBA media on Tuesday. “The performance of the league, league-wide, GTA is dropping. So look at the NFL, look at all the leagues, and watch them plummet, mate. Just for the month of November, performance is gonna go down,” he joked. “It should come back up, though. Most of the boys will get it done. Hopefully they finish the game… Coaching as well, by the way. The coaching and scouts are going to be horrendous, just for November, but it should bounce back in December, hopefully.”
GTA 6 will come out on on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, with preloads opening a week earlier on November 12, which will be roughly a month into the NBA regular season and will be around two-thirds of the way into the NFL season.
Adams isn’t the first professional sports player to speak about the most drawn out video game release of all-time.
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye told WEEI earlier this month he might wait until “a break or bye week” to start playing the game.
Maye seemingly won’t have to wait long since the GTA VI release is scheduled during the Patriots’ upcoming Week 11 bye.
Adams wasn’t done being his hilarious self and decided to also take the opportunity to throw a funny jab towards the Rockets’ young core.
“I’m pretty confident with our group,” Adams says. “We got a lot of good veterans here. Young guys, they’re a little bit older. Not sure if they’re smarter, mate. I hate to tell it to you guys, mate. But they should be alright.”
