Shimano is a global company offering the world’s sporting community top labels and brands including Shimano, G. Loomis, Power Pro, Lazer, and PRO. Its Canadian headquarters is located in Peterborough, Ontario. Shimano is seeking a Demand Planner to join the team in Canada.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Supply Chain Analyst, the Demand Planner will specialize in pulling and analyzing data, reporting, documenting and providing demand information to sales and other areas of the business.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain monthly operational forecasts down to the SKU level.
- Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
- Issue and manage purchase orders based on inventory levels, usage patterns, and forecasted demand.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through proactive planning and monitoring of stock.
- Review demand forecasts and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
- Coordinate with internal teams to manage lead times and minimize inventory gaps.
- Work with warehouse teams to prioritize builds or kitting activities in line with delivery deadlines.
- Communicate changes in schedules to relevant departments and escalate conflicts when necessary.
- Maintain item master data and ensure accurate records in the ERP system (e.g., lead times, suppliers, pricing).
- Generate reports to monitor inventory status, order progress, and material availability.
Job Qualifications
- One (1) to Two (2) years of experience in business/operations, preferably in outdoor retailing or a related industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a variety of departments.
- Experience in data mining and reporting, with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to convert large amounts of fragmented data into credible observations and actionable recommendations.
- Able to work cross-functionally and recommend improvements to boost performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience classifying goods for customs and duty purposes.
Education
University degree in Logistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience in demand planning and supply chain management.
