Laury Milette storms to national crit title

The 2026 national road championships finished up on Sunday with some crit titles up for grabs with the elite, under-23, junior and under-17 races for both men and women. Although most of the top pros opted not to race the elite men’s race—leaving it wide open—the majority of the pros did go for it in the women’s race.

Elite and under-23 women’s and men’s races

In the elite and under-23 women’s race, it was Gatineau’s Laury Milette (Team Abadie Magnan) who followed up her fifth from the road race with a superb win. She outkicked Nadiya Linde-Elmhirst (Milton Revolution Racing) in a sprint à deux just ahead of Kaitlyn Rauwerda (Cyclery Racing) who took bronze. Great ride for Rauwerda, too, who had a bit of heartbreak at the recent gravel nationals that were cancelled.

In the men’s race, St. Thomas, Ont.’s Jayden McMullen (TaG Cycling Race Team) took the win. He recently finished second at the long-running Preston Street crit, so it was clear his speed was there. He beat Carl Truffer (Team Vittel N’Side) and Philippe Jacob (Cannondale Echelon p/b 4iiii).

Junior and under-17 races

In the junior and under-17 men’s race, it was a clean sweep for Quebec. Cédric Fiset (EC Sports Experts) won over Antoine Desjardins (Quebec) and Leonard Mayrand (Quebec).

In the junior and under-17 women’s race, Quebec’s Élodie Malois continued a great season and took another win. She won the time trial on Friday in dominating fashion, putting well over a minute on Ontario’s Elly Moore. Jade Goyette (NORD Devo Team) took second, and track star Alexandra Fangeat (Cyclery Racing) was third.
