Decathlon CMA CGM have delayed naming their Tour de France line-up but confirmed that team leader Paul Seixas has recovered from his recent crash and will take part.
According to L’Equipe, Seixas underwent an MRI scan on Tuesday to rule out any consequences of his crash at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The 19-year-old French super talent has recently been training at altitude at Les Arcs in the French Alps, with the team publishing a video on social media. Seixas could be seen with bandages on both of his forearms and had reportedly been training indoors before riding in the Alps with three teammates.
“We preferred to delay the team selection announcement due to uncertainties about some riders, but Paul will be at the Tour,” a team source told the AFP news agency.
According to L’Équipe, Decathlon are concerned about Daan Hoole. The Dutch rouleur and time trialist would be an important domestique for Seixas but withdrew from the Dutch national time trial championships.
Seixas, Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Nicolas Prodhomme were due to speak at the time of the team announcement but will now continue to train in the Alps.
Seixas, who is considered a future Tour winner, will not ride the French national championships this weekend in northwest France.
Seixas and his Decathlon teammates are due to travel to Barcelona for the Tour de France Grand Départ early next week. The Tour begins with a team time trial on Saturday July 4.
