Reach for the sky! How our #LindsaysXC content gathered five million views (almost) – Scottish Athletics

Remarkable reach for #LindsaysXC (2024-25)

scottishathletics are thrilled to reveal we generated almost five million views for the Lindsays Cross Country Season.

We’ve added up the views across four of our platforms – Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok – over six weekends of #LindsaysXC action through the 2025-26 season.

Remarkably the figure sits at 4,975,402 for the four channels (and does not include X (Twitter) as those analytics are not available to us).

What we can say is this is massive increase in reach on last year when our coverage amassed 3.1 million views.

It is important to remember, too, that these views are for content only on scottishathetics platforms and do not count those on mainstream outlets like Athletics Weekly and/or BBC Scotland or across club social media platforms.

We want to thank everyone for likes, follows, shares and comments during the Lindsays Cross County Season.

‘Growing the reach for our sport is a target we work towards on a daily basis,’ said Peter Jardine, Head of Communications/

‘We firmly believe there are big audiences for our events and the reaction to the Lindsays Cross Country Season proves that.

‘To generate so close to five million views over four platforms via six weekends is very exciting.

‘We’re more active than ever before on Instagram and recently went through 15k followers on there. Our Facebook followers number surpassed 50k in December. And we’ve stepped into the TikTok space, too, over the past 10 months via Eilidh Miller, our Digital Content Creator, with that role supported through the National Lottery.

‘We want to thank everyone engaging with our content be that for #LindsaysXC or for #4Jathletics or across any other areas.

‘The likes, follows, shares and comments really make a huge difference and we value and appreciate all the support online.’

Lindsays, of course, are now committed to further championship events via the Lindsays Road Race Series over the next four years.

That sponsorship is up and running after events already in Inverness, Greenock, Livingston and Strathclyde Park.

‘The weather was awful for the Lindsays Scottish 10-Mile Champs, hosted by Law and District AAC at the Tom Scott Road Races, but video footage, GIFs and photos have been really popular,’ added Peter.

‘As a general rule, we prioritise Scottish National Championship events and a long-term goal has been to try and keep raising the profile of our events.

‘I would like to think we are seeing that happen and the Lindsays National XC at Falkirk this year was a great example of that.’

‘Lindsays as a company are very supportive of our events and I would stress our thanks to all volunteers, Officials and the Road Running and Cross Country Commission for leading on the delivery of these events.’
