Extreme weather forces cancellation of training at Soldier Hollow XC World Cup

The World Cup is visiting a brand new course this weekend in Solider Hollow, Utah. Thursday saw an exciting day on the new course, with a heap of new bikes dropping for the late season race. Friday? Less fun. The last day of practice before Saturday’s short track (XCC) is now cancelled due to heavy rains and extreme winds.

Whoop UCI Mountain Bike World Series says  all training on Friday is cancelled. The notification adds that the schedule remains, at this point, unchanged for Saturday and Sunday’s racing.

The Soldier Hollow course looks fast and fun. But the dirt would make it interesting, to say the least, to try race in the wet. As we saw in South Korea at the season opener, some courses do better in wet weather than others. Utah might not be the best.

Thunderstorms are forecast going into Friday night. Saturday and Sunday look overcast, but not that wet. Hopefully the sun will come out and we won’t find out just how bad it could be on Saturday or Sunday.

Anyway, here’s a course preview from the new venue.
