A new set of rainbow jerseys will be dished out over the coming week at the UCI Road World Championships, and you won’t want to miss a minute of it.
Starting this Sunday, September 20, and running through Sunday, September 27, Montréal will host the world’s best men and women in a packed program of time trialing and road races.
Nearly 1,000 riders from more than 75 countries will contest 13 medal events across eight days.
Remco Evenepoel, Wout van Aert, Paul Seixas, Mathieu van der Poel, and Quinn Simmons headline the field of elite men.
Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky, Kristen Faulkner, and the home defending champion Magdeliene Vallières headline the elite women.
Vollering is super-favorite for the women’s road race after a season so immaculate you could serve your dinner off of it. In the men’s road race, the absence of Tadej Pogačar has blown the race wide open, so expect a thriller.
For the time trials, you needn’t look much further than three-time defending champion Evenepoel and 2025 world champion Marlen Reusser.
U.S. fans should pay particular attention to the racing in this first North American worlds since Richmond 2015. USA Cycling hasn’t put out such a strong selection in years, in both the men’s and women’s races.
Simmons, Matteo Jorgenson, and Brandon McNulty give the U.S. serious hopes of a men’s road race medal.
Faulkner and crossover star Kate Courtney are very strong wildcards for the women’s. But don’t look for Chloé Dygert in the time trial – the two-time world champion is out after a recent surgery and ongoing RED-S.

The elite program rolls out Sunday 20 with the elite women’s time trial. Racing closes one week later on Sunday 27 with the elite men’s road race.
