Wednesday 1st July 2026

Seven young Scottish athletes have been selected for the European U18 Champs next month.

The GB and NI team will head to Rieti for the event which takes place from July 16-19.

And there is a brilliant representation for our clubs across the overall team which is 43-strong.

It equals the best Scottish presence at the European U18 Champs – seven were selected in 2022 – since the event began in 2016.

Congratulations to these young athletes on some superb performances in recent weeks to land selection. Well done, too, to their families, coaches and the clubs involved in their development over many years.

The European U18 championships are a key developmental stage for young athletes as their first opportunity to compete at an international championship,’ said team leader, Alan Richardson.

‘The experience will be invaluable in terms of preparation, participation and everything that entails set in a competitive environment.

‘I would like to congratulate all those selected in earning their opportunity to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at their first international championship.’
