Enric Mas Raced at Giro in a Women’s Jersey. He Had No Idea.

Enric Mas knew his Movistar team-issued kit felt good, but he did not realize just how much until a few days later.

The Spanish climber, racing his first-ever Giro d’Italia, has already discovered how brutal the corsa rosa can be after losing serious time in week one. He’ll start Tuesday’s stage 10 time trial in 28th at 13:42 back.

But it was a wardrobe mishap that earned him the headlines in the Italian grand tour.

Sharp-eyed fans on social media noticed that Mas had been racing several Giro stages in the women’s version of the Movistar team racing jersey.

The clue was hidden in plain sight — the jersey carried the “UCI Women’s World Team” logo emblazoned right on his chest.

Reporters finally asked Mas — who’s since changed back into the men’s kit — about the mystery.

“It’s a small mistake, nothing special,” Mas told AS. “I’m wearing a small size jersey, maybe they made a mistake when handing out the clothes, but it doesn’t matter.”

Mas insisted everything fit perfectly, including the bib shorts.

“I didn’t notice, I just wore the clothes,” Mas said. “Everything was my size, and the bib shorts too, the only difference was the logo.”

The Spanish climber, still recovering from a string of injuries and health setbacks, hopes to be hitting top form to chase a stage win in the final week of the Giro d’Italia.
