The Cleveland Cavaliers are facing major pressure after falling into a 0-2 deficit against the Detroit Pistons, and much of the spotlight is now on Donovan Mitchell and James Harden.
According to , Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, Cleveland will need a much stronger and more consistent performance from Mitchell if the team hopes to recover in the series.
While Mitchell bounced back with 31 points in Game 2 by aggressively attacking the rim, he still struggled shooting from long range after an inconsistent opening round.
Meanwhile, Harden has drawn criticism for his turnovers after being brought in to elevate the Cavaliers into championship contention.
Joe Reedy of the Associated Press noted that the veteran guard has recorded more turnovers than made field goals in four playoff games so far, including both games against Detroit.
“You look within first. Look at my turnovers, and a lot of them are just on me,” Harden admitted. “For me, I got to be better. I will be better (not) turning the basketball over and getting shots up.”
ESPN’s Jamal Collier also pointed out that the remainder of the playoff run could heavily shape how both stars are viewed moving forward.
Mitchell, however, said he is not feeling overwhelmed by the moment.
“This isn’t pressure. Getting your next meal is pressure,” he said. “Where am I going to live? You know, that’s pressure. This is an opportunity. This is fun.”
