Wilier’s new Rapida road bike has an entry price of €2,899

Wilier has launched the Rapida, with an entry price of €2,899, bringing the Wilier look and an integrated one-piece cockpit at a price that’s significantly more affordable than its premium race bikes.

The lower priced of two specs, the bike is equipped with a Shimano 105 mechanical groupset and Miche Reflex DX 26mm deep alloy wheels with Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 32mm tyres. You still get an integrated bar/stem and internal cable routing, along with a carbon seatpost though. The claimed bike weight is 8.8kg.

Upgrade to the €3,999 higher spec and there’s a groupset upgrade to electronic Shimano 105 Di2 and the bike comes fitted with Miche Asfalto 45 Carbon wheels with a 1,680g claimed weight and 22mm internal width mini-hook rim. The Rapida’s claimed weight drops by 200g to 8.6kg.

The Rapida bears a family resemblance to Wilier’s top spec race bike, the Filante SLR ID2, with NACA aero tube profiles, dropped seatstays and a deep head tube.

Geometry-wise, Wilier says that the Rapida sits exactly halfway between its race bikes and its endurance bike range, which includes the Granturismo SLR and Rave SLR. It claims this offers fast, stable handling with a ride position that’s comfortable for longer rides.

Wilier targets the 36mm tyre clearance at all-road use as well as on-road riding. Although standard specs are equipped with compact 2x groupsets, the frame can also be set up 1x and there’s a UDH dropout for compatibility with SRAM XPLR AXS Full Mount groupsets.

The Wilier Rapida is available immediately in six sizes and four different colours, which Wilier says are inspired by the light at different times of day: Dusk Grey Matt, Midday Orange Glossy, Weekend White Glossy and Lastlight Black Matt.
