Polygon officially launches in Canada with hybrid strategy

Polygon Bikes is officially launching across Canada, extending its operations in the country with what it is calling an “Omni-Channel” distribution model. That means the brand will be available through local bike stores, direct-to-consumer through Polygon and, as they are now, through MEC.

If you’re less familiar with Polygon, the brand has a reputation for delivering a solid bike at more approachable prices. The brand owns its now factories, designs, engineers, tests and produces its bikes entirely in house. This vertical integration allows, as you might expect, Polygon to offer performance at a more competitive price. The brand is well-established globally, in mountain biking, eMTB, gravel and road. Now it’s taking a more sizable step into Canada.

“As a culturally recognized global cycling destination, Canada represents an exciting and important market for Polygon,” says Polygon Director Stevel Wijaya. “We’re eager to build lasting relationships with independent dealers who share our values.”

Polygon’s World Cup racing team recently signed Kelowna, B.C. junior Tayte Proulx-Royds to its global racing program. Proulx-Royds will make her international debut on the new bikes at the South Korea World Cup later this week.

With omni-channel distribution, Polygon brings local bikes shops into the picture

Polygon Canada will operate from a HQ and warehouse in Delta B.C. The brand will be available through bike shops, though MEC and direct-to-consumer online sales. Polygon adds that “In a dealer-supportive approach, online customers will select a local dealer for bike delivery and assembly, with margin shared directly with that retailer. This model ensures dealers remain an integral part of the customer experience.”

Polygon isn’t the only brand working with a so-called click-and-collect structure. Trek has attempted a similar approach in recent years as the U.S. brand sought to increase its online sales.

Polygon’s Canadian operations will be led by Paul Nash, the newly-appointed Country Manager. Polygon says Nash “brings extensive experience in the North American cycling industry, with a track record of building dealer networks and growing brands.”

If you’re a dealer interested in bringing Polygon bikes to your local community, Polygon Canada is actively welcoming inquiries from independent Canadian retailers across the country. Information on that is available through Polygon Bikes Canadian website.
