Zoe Bäckstedt commits to Canyon-Sram through 2028

Zoe Bäckstedt isn’t going anywhere, at least not for a while.

The 21-year-old superstar has signed a contract extension that will keep her with Canyon//SRAM through 2028.

The daughter of Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus has made a name for herself over the years. She’s a multiple world champion in the junior and under-23 disciplines on the road, ‘cross, hell, even the track in the madison.

Extension with the team

“As with any big decision, I took my time to determine what the next step was,” Bäckstedt said. “But in the end I know that this is the right place for me at this stage of my career.”

Her current home, she says, works. “The team is professional but also feels like a second family, which suits my personality and gives me the space to be myself,” she said. “Of course, it’s the people who make the difference.”

Bäckstedt said she took her time with the decision, weighing what she needs at this stage of her career.
Since joining her current team, having ridden earlier with EF Education-TIBCO-SVB in 2023, Bäckstedt has steadily grown into one of the peloton’s most versatile riders.

Her 2025 season, in particular, was solid. On Belgian roads, she dominated the Baloise Belgium Tour, taking three stages and the overall title, results that underlined her strength against the clock and her ability to handle varied terrain.

This year, she’s already been knocking on the door in the Classics, with top results at Dwars door Vlaanderen, the Tour of Flanders, and Paris-Roubaix. Not headline wins…yet, but close enough to suggest something bigger isn’t far off. Just wait.

And she’s not limiting herself to the road. Over the winter, Bäckstedt lined up in ten cyclocross races, finishing seventh at the world championships in Hulst.

Even though her last name is famous as a result of her dad, she’s making it even more well-known with her performances. And there’s probably much, much more to come.
