BC Bike Race isn’t just chaning formats for 2027, it’s also heading back to hallowed ground. The return to Squamish was already announced, but there’s more. The 2027 BC Bike Race will start in Whister.
A well-timed return for a new format
That will be the first time BCBR’s returned to the iconic mountain bike town in a decade. Back in 2017, Whistler was the final stage of the seven-day race. In 2027, it will kick-off the first edition of BCBR’s new format.
It’s a fitting town for the new format. With 150 enduro spots up for grabs alongside the classic cross country stage race, starting in Whistler and Squamish will be appreciated by the gravity crowd and XC crew alike.
2027 BC Bike Race route, mostly
With Whistler in place, that mostly sorts out the 2027 BC Bike Race route. From Whistler, the five-day, dual-format race heads south to Squamish for a quick tour of the trails before hopping on BC Ferries for a cruise over to Vancouver Island for the final three days of racing.
Cumberland kicks off island life and Cowichan will crown winners. But, between those two stages? A mystery!
With only five days of racing, there are a lot of options for where that one day could be. Campbell River? Nanaimo? The new and popular stage in Hammerfest? I guess we’ll find out eventually.
Race Week Schedule May 24-28:
Day 1 – Whistler
Day 2 – Squamish + ferry to Vancouver Island
Day 3 – Cumberland
Day 4 – Mystery Stage
Day 5 – North Cowichan
