{"id":596,"date":"2022-11-23T15:21:54","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T15:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2022\/11\/23\/komoot-launches-womens-rally-bikepacking-series-for-2023\/"},"modified":"2022-11-23T15:21:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T15:21:54","slug":"komoot-launches-womens-rally-bikepacking-series-for-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2022\/11\/23\/komoot-launches-womens-rally-bikepacking-series-for-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Komoot launches Women\u2019s Rally bikepacking series for 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p> Komoot has launched a series of bikepacking events which will take place in 2023 and is specifically aimed at those who identify as women.<\/p>\n<p>The series includes a GranGuache gravel route in the Canary Islands in January, followed by one in Slovenia in September and lastly a Tuscan Rally in November.<\/p>\n<p>The bikepacking events, which are in conjunction with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclist.co.uk\/news\/10392\/cycling-icelands-continental-divide-jenny-graham-and-lael-wilcox-new-documentary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ultra endurance cyclist Lael Wilcox<\/a>, were created following the success of the 2021 and 2022 Women\u2019s Rally events.<\/p>\n<div id=\"file-58946\" class=\"file file-image file-image-jpeg file-content-article-wide-image-in-content\">\n<div class=\"content\">      <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>Credit: Rue Kaladyte<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The new series aims to build on the previous events, and connect, inspire and make cycling adventures more accessible to women, with key elements being knowledge sharing, learning-by-doing and enjoyment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ve hosted three successful rallies \u2013 two on the Torino Nice Rally in Italy and France, and a third on the Monta\u00f1as Vac\u00edas in Spain,\u2019 says Wilcox.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The rallies are some of my favourite weeks of the whole year. It was created by Rue Kaladyte and Wilcox, and premiered at Kendal Mountain Festival last weekend.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>Creating events for women<\/h2>\n<div id=\"file-58947\" class=\"file file-image file-image-jpeg file-content-article-wide-image-in-content\">\n<div class=\"content\">    <img decoding=\"async\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclist.b-cdn.net\/sites\/cyclist\/files\/styles\/article_wide_image_in_content\/public\/2022\/11\/427193-202120women27s20komoot20torino20nice20rally20e2809420rugile20kaladyte20e2809420033-d4b026-original-1650971627.jpg?itok=lmPVLC4A\" alt=\"\"\/>  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>Credit: Rue Kaladyte<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The first event was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclist.co.uk\/news\/10161\/lael-wilcox-torino-nice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Torino-Nice Rally<\/a> held in 2021 which Komoot says was a direct response to women often being underrepresented in cycling.<\/p>\n<p>This first rally saw 26 women participate and riders covered 700km with 15,000m of climbing over seven days.<\/p>\n<p>Komoot says the events are limited to 50 participants to create an intimate and personal atmosphere and to ensure the places the Rally goes through are not overwhelmed by lots of riders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Instead of increasing the numbers (of participants) we want to have more events, more opportunities to have these experiences in different places around the world. The event will take place from January 14th-21st 2023 and riders will cover 700km over five islands, with 15,500m of elevation on a mix of terrain.<\/p>\n<p>Registration for the event is open from 20th to 27th November and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.komoot.com\/collection\/1844793\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">can be accessed here<\/a>.
