\n Don’t miss a moment from Paris-Roubaix and Unbound Gravel, to the Giro d\u2019Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a, and everything in between when you Ian Boswell<\/a> recounts how challenging it was to be the low man on the Team Sky<\/a> totem pole when he joined the super-team in 2013.<\/p>\n Boswell told Cyclist<\/em> that he was overwhelmed by the superstar company at the UK powerhouse now called Ineos Grenadiers when he joined as a WorldTour rookie a decade ago.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes I would feel not worthy or necessarily mentally confident in my ability,\u201d Boswell told Cyclist<\/em><\/a>. \u201cEspecially when I first joined Team Sky in 2013, I was instantly in this environment with superstars like Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Richie Porte, and Geraint Thomas.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt unworthy of being at that team at that point in time because I didn\u2019t feel like I was performing to the level that I was capable of, but also that maybe the team had initially expected \u2013 even though I had some good performances as a U23,\u201d Boswell told the UK website.<\/p>\n Also read:<\/strong><\/p>\n The interview explores Boswell\u2019s struggles within the UK team and his later transition to gravel racing.<\/p>\n He retired in 2019 following injuries with the now-folded Katusha, and began working with Wahoo Fitness. He won the 2021 edition of Unbound, and now he\u2019s mixing his schedule around gravel events and industry work.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you look at road cycling, there\u2019s a team around you and everything is taken care of. If you don\u2019t succeed, you feel as if you\u2019re letting the team and staff down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cOne thing that I\u2019ve found very rewarding with gravel is that I\u2019m self-dependent.
