Anissa Hardy<\/a><\/dfn> chipped in seven points and seven boards as Kenyon’s starters scored all but two of the team’s total.<\/p>\nIt took the teams nearly four minutes to take the lid off the basket as the game remained scoreless until the 6:12 mark in the opening period. However, Krslovic emphatically lit the scoring fuse, knocking down three consecutive three-pointers to score Kenyon’s first nine points.<\/p>\n
After a steal and a two-pointer by Orefice, Kenyon came out of the two-and-a-half-minute stretch with an 11-7 lead. The four-point advantage would stand as Kenyon’s largest of the game, and the Owls’ last lead came a few minutes later at 13-10. Oberlin closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run, including seven straight, and never looked back.<\/p>\n
The Yeowomen led for the rest of the game, though the Owls remained within striking distance at halftime, down 39-31. Cooke scored six second-quarter points and went into the halftime break with a half-dozen points and a whopping eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Krslovic added another trifecta early in the frame, finishing the first half 4-6 from downtown and scoring a career-high 12 points in under 12 minutes of action.<\/p>\n
Oberlin scored 22 points for the second consecutive quarter in the third, when the Owls added 15. Gest doubled her first-half total with five third-quarter points to lead Kenyon, opening the frame with a three-pointer before two free throws to end it. The Yeowomen shot 56.3%, 9-16 overall and 2-3 from three, in the third, their most-accurate quarter. The efficient shooting and Kenyon miscues helped Oberlin build an 18-point edge, their largest of the game.<\/p>\n
The Owls outscored Oberlin 13-11 in the fourth, but it was too late. Kenyon did its damage from the free throw line, shooting 9-11 from the charity stripe while hitting just two of nine looks from the field. The Yeowomen led 72-59 at the final horn, handing the Owls their third loss in a row.<\/p>\n
Kenyon has a chance to rebound quickly as the Owls head to Meadville, Pennsylvania, for a game against Allegheny College (8-8) in less than 24 hours. The game against the Gators is set for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Sunday, Jan. 22.
