{"id":2232,"date":"2023-01-15T09:24:20","date_gmt":"2023-01-15T09:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/15\/west-duo-craig-and-amy-to-the-fore-at-u17-level-in-perth-scottish-athletics-2\/"},"modified":"2023-01-15T09:24:20","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T09:24:20","slug":"west-duo-craig-and-amy-to-the-fore-at-u17-level-in-perth-scottish-athletics-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/15\/west-duo-craig-and-amy-to-the-fore-at-u17-level-in-perth-scottish-athletics-2\/","title":{"rendered":"West duo Craig and Amy to the fore at U17 level in Perth &#8211; Scottish Athletics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"meta-date\">Sunday 15th January 2023<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>Craig Shennan and Amy Teasdale on their way to U17 Inter-District title wins at Perth (photo by Bobby Gavin)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/data.opentrack.run\/en-gb\/x\/2023\/GBR\/saintdis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results (provisional)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Giffnock North athlete <strong>Craig Shennan<\/strong> is no stranger to a cross country title in Scotland and he added his first at U17 level in Perth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy Teasdale<\/strong>, meanwhile, took the U17 Women\u2019s Inter-District gold only eight days after winning 30900m gold indoors and just a few weeks into working with a new coach.<\/p>\n<p>The U17 races were over 6k and in with the U20 Cross Challenge event.<\/p>\n<p>Shennan, a National champion at Falkirk at U13 and U15 level, took both Cross Challenge and Inter-District golds with a fine run as he headed the East\u2019s <strong>Reiss Marshall<\/strong> and the West\u2019s <strong>Oliver Patton<\/strong> in our Inter-District podium.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was fun to race and I\u2019m really pleased with that,\u2019 smiled Craig.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I ran in the Cross Challenge at Milton Keynes in November and tested positive for Covid on the Monday after we came back. It knocked me off training for a bit.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Today I was spiked after about 100m on the first turn and I could feel it. I enjoyed it and I\u2019m working with <strong>Sarah Dempsey<\/strong> now as my coach and it\u2019s been good.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I really got into running during the Covid lockdowns. I just couldn\u2019t sit around the house all the time and felt I had to get out the door.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At one stage I was running almost every day but since then I\u2019ve been to the club (Kilbarchan AAC) and there\u2019s more structure to my training now. The East took the team win, with the West second and the North third.<\/p>\n<p>It was a clean sweep for the West District in the U13 Boys race, making the podiums identical for the British Cross and Inter Districts \u2013<strong> Rhuairdh Laing<\/strong> took the win, with <strong>Louie Muir<\/strong> in second and <strong>Cameron Nugent<\/strong> third.<\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, that gave the West the team win, followed by East, with North third.<\/p>\n<p>The U15 Girls race gave us one of the more complex results of the day, with high-placed runners from across a considerable geographical spread.<\/p>\n<p>Young Scot <strong>Zara Redmond<\/strong> (West) won both the British Cross and Inter District titles. The British podium was completed by <strong>Katie Pye<\/strong> (Aldershot, Farnham and District) in second and<strong> Eimear Cooney<\/strong> (Athletic Association of Ireland) in third.<\/p>\n<p>The Inter District race saw <strong>Lois MacRae<\/strong> (North) take second place with <strong>Freya Campbell<\/strong> (West) third.\u00a0Team honours went to the East, with West second and the North third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tristan Robin<\/strong> took both titles in the U15 Boys race, with another West District triple-header \u2013 <strong>Calum Dick<\/strong> second and <strong>James Alexander<\/strong> third.<\/p>\n<p>That of course gave the West District the team win, with East second and North third.
