Three is the magic number for Justin Gordon as the Newcastle
\nEagles fan favourite returns to Tyneside in a bid to fire Marc Steutel\u2019s men
\ntowards this season\u2019s playoffs.<\/p>\n
The eye-catching 29-year-old has committed to a third spell
\nin as many years at the Vertu Motors Arena ahead of Friday\u2019s night\u2019s BBL Trophy
\ntrip to the Caledonia Gladiators.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen Justin became available there was no doubt about
\nbringing him back.\u201d Coach Steutel commented.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knows the club, knows the league and is a proven impact
\nplayer in the BBL.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s shown his value to this club on a consistent basis and
\nbeen part of a successful period of Newcastle\u2019s history. As soon as I knew that
\nJustin was as enthused about coming back as we were to bring him back then the
\nsituation was a no-brainer.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a dynamic player who can impact upon multiple areas of
\nthe game and some of those areas are where we still need to improve as a team. I\u2019m
\nbringing him in to be the player we know he can be. I want Justin to be himself
\nand by doing that he can impact positively on the rest of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gordon was crowned MVP at the 2021 BBL Cup Final after
\nbagging 18 points and 15 rebounds in a famous 84-77 Eagles win against London
\nLions.<\/p>\n
The Charlotte-born star had emerged as a key member of
\nNewcastle\u2019s double-winning roster during the Covid-affected 2020\/21 campaign.<\/p>\n
Gordon averaged 16 points and six rebounds for the men in
\nblack during his rookie BBL season \u2014 his athleticism and reach around the
\nbasket ensuring a stacked highlights reel.<\/p>\n
Returning to Newcastle for his second spell last February, Gordon
\naveraged 18 points, six rebounds and three assists per game and in returning to
\nthe roster for a third time the high-flyer replaces Justin Everett on the
\nEagles\u2019 roster for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

\nwith our very best wishes,\u201d added Steutel.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a player we\u2019d been watching for a while and he showed
\nglimpses of what he\u2019s all about during his time here. Justin Everett is an
\nextremely talented basketball player with an even better work ethic and he\u2019s a
\ngreat person. It\u2019s with a heavy heart that we\u2019ve had to release him at this
