When you\u2019re drafted number one overall out of Duke, you are expected to be a franchise player. That is exactly the expectation for Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero. He has immense talent and has show that he can be that guy for Orlando, which is why they handed him a max extension.<\/p>\n

The problem is that Banchero hasn\u2019t been consistent enough. His shooting has been very poor over the last couple seasons, and at times takes really tough shots that disrupts the flow of the offense.\u00a0<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
However, he has shown up big-tie for the Magic in the playoffs, and the mark of a true franchise guy is what they do under the bright lights. Now it\u2019s about adding more efficiency to his game and simplifying it, and based off of his offseason work with a future hall of famer, that could be coming for Banchero.<\/p>\n

Banchero worked out with Durant this past summer and when he was asked about it at Media Day, he said that he has worked out with Durant before. Banchero did mention that their games are a lot different, but he wanted to learn about Durant\u2019s approach to his craft and how he gets better.<\/p>\n

It also helps that Durant is one of the most lethal mid-range scorers in the NBA and that is an rea that Banchero has to improve in. If he wants to continue to shoot those pull-up jumpers, then learning from the best at it is a good start.<\/p>\n

Banchero also cited his relationship with former Orlando assistant coach God Shammgod, who is now in New Orleans. He feels that what he learned from him will help him on the court and how to approach the game.<\/p>\n

Even Wendell Carter Jr. said Banchero looks more explosive and athletic this season, which is a scary thought given his bigger frame. If Banchero can do a better job of using that to get to the basket, then sky is the limit.<\/p>\n

Orlando hasn\u2019t advanced past the first round with Banchero, but with a new head coach in Sean Sweeney they will look to do so this season. They have virtually the same roster as last season, meaning this is still Banchero\u2019s team. A return to All-Star form from the fifth year forward would silence the critics and cement himself as one of the league\u2019s ascending young talents.<\/p>\n
