Photo: London Marathon Events<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s been a busy weekend of action on the road for Scots as there were podium moments and records across the mile and 10k.<\/p>\n On Saturday, Cameron Boyek<\/strong> took the British Road Mile title in London in a thrilling sprint finish which saw him crowned Champion in 4:02.24.<\/p>\n He was declared the winner of the BMC Bannister Wave at the Vitality Westminster Mile<\/strong> after a photo finish with Tom Dodd<\/strong> who was officially granted the same time.<\/p>\n Edinburgh AC\u2019s Peter Cameron<\/strong> finished 4th in 4:09.77.<\/p>\n Reflecting on his performance, Boyek said:<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s my first time here. I\u2019ve always wanted to come down and do it because I\u2019ve watched it for many years.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve had a really funny year, with injury and lots of disruption, so I got to the end of the season didn\u2019t race as much as I wanted to,<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m relieved to take the win, because I thought I\u2019d lost it coming into the final corner. Tom hit the front, but I was just strong enough to come past him in the sprint.\u201d<\/p>\n Full results<\/a><\/p>\n Photo: London Marathon Events<\/strong><\/p>\n On Sunday, Eilish McColgan<\/strong> was back in action at the Vitality London 10,000 taking the win for the third year in a row in 31:50. f<\/p>\n It is a record fourth title at the event, in her first return to racing since being forced to retire from the Great North Run just two weeks ago after suffering from some terrible blisters.<\/p>\n Speaking after the race, she said:<\/p>\n \u201cI am really happy. The goal today was to try and win but to come away with my fourth title here is really special.<\/p>\n \u201cI can see from my time today that my fitness isn\u2019t quite where I\u2019d like it to be. It\u2019s no secret I\u2019ve had some issues since April, so I am just happy to be back racing.<\/p>\n \u201cI am proud of what I\u2019ve been able to do off of four weeks, but the goal now is to get into a big block of training.\u201d<\/p>\n Full results<\/a><\/p>\n Sunday was also a big day in the north of Scotland as the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running<\/strong> welcomed a record-breaking 11,100 participants from 45 countries.<\/p>\n Participants of all ages and abilities took part in the event which offers a distance for everyone, with 6,000 marathon participants tackling the iconic 26.2-mile route, 3000 taking on the popular Baxters River Ness 10K and local school children and families taking part in the River Ness 5K and the popular Wee Nessie.<\/p>\n Photo: Trevor Martin<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Headlining the day\u2019s competitive action was Inverness\u2019s own Olympic athlete and Commonwealth bronze medallist Megan Keith<\/strong>, who thrilled home crowds in the Baxters River Ness 10K by taking first female place and setting an extraordinary new course record of 31:24.<\/p>\n It was a clean sweep for Inverness Harriers, with Charlotte Rose-Burton<\/strong> (36:17) and Helen Leigh<\/strong> (36:30) finishing second and third.<\/p>\n The Men\u2019s 10k was won by Fife AC\u2019s Logan Rees<\/strong> (28:52) ahead of Max Abernethy<\/strong> (29:00, Aberdeen AAC) and Angus Smith<\/strong> (29:29, Corstorphine AAC).<\/p>\n In the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon, Metro Aberdeen\u2019s Hazel Wyness<\/strong> took the win for the women in 02:52:05, ahead of Briony Cornish<\/strong> (02:52:54) and Rosie Thorogood<\/strong> (02:53:59, Oxford University AC).<\/p>\n The Men\u2019s event, William Strangeway<\/strong> (Lincoln Wellington Athletic Club) was first over the line in 02:20:16 just under a minute clear of East Sutherland AC\u2019s Shaun Cumming<\/strong> (02:21:10).
