Austin Reaves has really stepped up over the offseason, and his teammates, like Collin Sexton, are starting to notice.<\/p>\n
Luka Doncic is the natural leader of the team following LeBron James\u2019 departure, but Reaves will be big part of the leadership group also.<\/p>\n
And he\u2019s doing his part already, new recruit Sexton says.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach and every day when he\u2019s in the gym, he\u2019s ready to work. No complaints out of him. He\u2019s one of the leaders on the team and he comes in with the attitude of pushing each other, but also allowing players to push him,\u201d Sexton said on the Lakers\u2019 X account. \u201cSo, it\u2019s fun to be around him and his competitive nature has been cool too. That\u2019s his one thing, he impacts winning and he impacts the game in so many different ways. I definitely look forward to playing with him just being out there on the court with him, he\u2019s a scorer, a passer and being able to play with someone that\u2019s very unselfish but also can score the ball as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sexton has been making some improvements of his own over the summer, specifically his on his shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would say being efficient is something that I can control,\u201d Sexton said during a recently media availability. \u201cTrying to shoot the right shots, make the right plays. Read the game. If the game says shoot, shoot. If the game says pass, pass. I feel like at the end of the day this whole summer, that\u2019s all I\u2019ve been focusing on is making things a little bit simpler. Reading closeouts. Reading if they\u2019re back, let it fly and having confidence to continue to shoot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like that was something that was a huge knock on me coming into the league was, \u2018Can he shoot?\u2019 I feel like I\u2019ve been able to just continue to prove. And I know I have a lot more growth to get there just percentage-wise and attempts-wise, but I feel like I can shoot the ball pretty well. So I think those things allow me to be efficient and it\u2019s all about a mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n
