Remco Evenepoel has done it again. And again. And again. And again. (And maybe again next year, but we will see.)<\/p>\n
The Belgian just smoked it to grab his fourth consecutive world time trial title in Montreal on Sunday. The double Olympic champ putting 57 seconds into Filippo Ganna and matching the record of four world titles held by Fabian Cancellara and Tony Martin. But he also did it four-in-a-row.<\/p>\n
The Belgian wasted little time showing who was the champ on the 39.9-km course. At the first time check, he had already opened a 22-second advantage over Ganna and Stefan K\u00fcng. From there, the gap only grew.
Ganna eventually settled into silver-medal position, but there was no catching the defending champion. Evenepoel was the only rider to break 45 minutes, while Ganna finished 57 seconds back.<\/p>\n
The battle for bronze was perhaps more interesting.<\/p>\n
\n<\/blockquote>\nNineteen-year-old French prodigy Paul Seixas produced a huge ride to put himself into medal contention on his world championships debut. Sweden\u2019s Jakob S\u00f6derqvist was also in the mix, but a late crash ended his hopes of reaching the podium.<\/p>\n
Seixas held on for third, finishing 1:13 behind Evenepoel and 16 seconds behind Ganna.<\/p>\n
Canada had two riders today. Oakville, Ont.\u2019s Michael Leonard who was killing it early on, with leading after earlier time checks. He would finish 13th overall, with Nick Zukowsky finishing 31st, Both riders will ride next at the road race on Sunday. Zuke was a last-minute replacement for national TT champ, Derek Gee-West, who crashed at the GP de Montreal. The Lidl-Trek rider has skipped this event and the mixed relay in hopes he can be ready for the road race, if his ribs can heal.<\/p>\n
Either way, a great first day for the 2026 world champs, and it continues on Monday, until Sunday. So much cycling in Canada!<\/p>\n
