\u20ac176,800, Spain\u2019s first red jersey in 12 years left Granada with just 29 percent of what Poga\u010dar took from the Tour.<\/p>\n<p>\u20ac150k of Mas\u2019 money comes from his GC victory; the balance comes from his stage wins and miscellaneous primes.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, Poga\u010dar won a whopper \u20ac611,980 in assorted prizes at <em>Le Tour<\/em> \u2013 and that\u2019s before thinking of the bank-breaking bonuses UAE Emirates-XRG and his portfolio of personal sponsors would have doled out.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em><a target=\"_blank\" class=\"article-content-link text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.procyclingstats.com\/race\/vuelta-a-espana\/2026\/results\/prizemoney-ranking\" rel=\"noopener\">Pro Cycling Stats<\/a><\/em>, sprint sensation Matthew Brennan came second in the Vuelta prize rankings with \u20ac65,905. Not a bad month\u2019s work for a kid who just turned 21.<\/p>\n<p>But again, in comparison to Evenepoel\u2019s takings of \u20ac248k from the Tour, it\u2019s like pocket money.<\/p>\n<p>One funny thing to note \u2013 Poga\u010dar was the fifth-highest earner of the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a, despite crashing out on stage 8.<\/p>\n<p>The GOAT-ish Slovenian won \u20ac42,855 from his three stage wins and eight days wearing red. That\u2019s less than half of the \u20ac2.3m dished out in July at the Tour de France. The Giro d\u2019Italia splits the difference with a \u20ac1.64 million total payout.<\/p>\n<p>For context, the Tour de France Femmes \u2014 the richest of the women\u2019s major races \u2014 has a total purse of \u20ac250,000.<\/p>\n<p>Movistar won\u2019t likely be complaining at the Vuelta\u2019s relatively paltry payouts, however. It might take anything it can get.<\/p>\n<p>Mas led the long-running Spanish team to netting nine times more at the Vuelta than it did at the recent Tour de France.<\/p>\n<p>Movistar won \u20ac181,300 in total at <em>La Vuelta<\/em>. It earned just \u20ac19k from a disastrous Tour de France after GC leader Cian Uijtdebroeks crashed out early.<\/p>\n<p>Movistar topped the team prize money rankings from the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a, with Visma-Lease a Bike a relatively close second. Brennan and green jersey winner Wout van Aert won the majority of the Killer Bees\u2019 \u20ac151,350 total.<\/p>\n<p>But racing isn\u2019t all winners.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s spare a thought for the minnow teams.<\/p>\n<p>Burgos-BH Purpellet, Jayco-AlUla, and Picnic-PostNL didn\u2019t even break \u20ac10k after they sent armies of riders, staff, and vehicles to trek from Monaco to Granada.<\/p>\n<p>Burgos won \u20ac9k, Jayco won \u20ac5k, Picnic won \u20ac4k.
