A year ago, Usain Bolt<\/a> revealed he had stopped running and got out of breath whenever he went up the stairs. But now the greatest sprinter in history has insisted he has made a lightning return to fitness after proposing last month to his long-term partner Kasi Bennett.<\/p>\n Bolt, who is an ambassador for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, laughed as he told reporters that his claims about his lack of fitness in Tokyo last year<\/a> had been overegged for effect. \u201cI made a joke and you guys took it out of context,\u201d Bolt said, with a grin.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was everywhere. I wasn\u2019t running out of breath walking up the stairs. I was just making a joke. I\u2019m in the best shape of my life. Make sure that\u2019s the headline.\u201d<\/p>\n Part of that fitness drive, it appears, is down to his engagement to Bennett, the mother of his three children \u2013 Olympia Lightning, Thunder and Saint Leo \u2013 who he proposed to on his 40th birthday. \u201cI tell you guys, I\u2019m working out,\u201d Bolt said. \u201cI\u2019ve really been to the gym and working on it every day since I\u2019ve been here. So, I\u2019m trying to get on it and I\u2019m doing well. I\u2019m happy with where I\u2019m at. So let\u2019s continue working on this.\u201d<\/p>\n
