With it being a repeated fracture, her 2026 season is likely to come to an early end,\u201d her team posted.<\/p>\n<p>The AG Insurance-Soudal rider had been selected for Slovenia\u2019s team for the world championships in Montreal, but the latest injury is expected to keep her out of the Sept. 26 road race. The course would definitely suit her, given her strong climbing prowess. She might not have been the favourite to win, but a top-10 was totally in the cards.<\/p>\n<h2>Second big crash this\u00a0 year<\/h2>\n<p>\u017digart, 29, broke her jaw in an absolutely horrific crash at the Tour de Suisse in June. The former national champ hit a speed bump at a really strange spot in the race\u2013at the end\u2013and went over the bars. Thankfully the injuries weren\u2019t worse as it was just awful to watch. She had returned to racing and appeared to be in strong form at the Faun Tour, sitting third overall when she went down.<\/p>\n<p>The injury is another blow for a rider who also competed at the Tour de France Femmes in August, finishing 48th overall.<\/p>\n<p>She is now in the same boat as her fianc\u00e9e, Tadej Poga\u010dar. It\u2019s double bad luck for cycling\u2019s royal couple.<\/p>\n<p>The current men\u2019s world champion crashed out of La Vuelta A Espa\u00f1a in the red jersey. He was poised to win that, and looked good to defend his crown at the road worlds. He <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/tadej-pogacar-is-still-coming-to-the-road-worlds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was supposed to still come to cheer on \u017digart and his Slovenian teammates, however<\/a>. Now, they both may be there on the sidelines. What a roller coaster of a sport, this cycling thing.<\/p>\n<p>There are two Canadians racing at the Faun Tour: Vancouver\u2019s Sidney Swierenga and Laval, Que.\u2019s Emilie Fortin. <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/sidney-swierenga-seals-giro-della-toscana-overall-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swierenga<\/a> sits 20th overall, and finished fourth on Stage 2. It\u2019s another great stage race for the talented teenager.
