James Alexander, Luc Macleod, Matthew McKenna and Josh Mungin enjoy podium success at England Athletics U20 Champs<\/strong><\/p>\n *NOTE: We will update this story on Monday with medal highlights from Sunday in Bedford.<\/em><\/p>\n Scottish athletes were in fine form at the England Athletics U20<\/strong> and Senior Championships<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We had and a number of athletes presenting Scotland at U20 level as an international opportunity.<\/p>\n The event in Bedford was also the World Trials and without pre-empting selection decisions, we hope for healthy Scottish representation on that top.<\/p>\n James Alexander<\/strong> set the ball rolling on Friday evening as the Garscube Harriers athlete clinched his selection place. James won the U20 1500m gold with superb closing speed in a run of 4:02.06.<\/p>\n Millie McClelland Brooks<\/strong> took silver in the Women\u2019s 5000m.<\/p>\n At Senior level, there were medals for Greg Millar<\/strong> in the javelin (silver) and Kaya Slater<\/strong> in the 100m (bronze).<\/p>\n On Saturday, there was a fine Scottish 1-2 in the Mern\u2019s 800m final at U20 level, with Matthew McKenna<\/strong> and Josh Mungin<\/strong> pushing each other all the way to the line. Matthew took the gold in 1:49.24 with Joshua just behind in 1:49.26 for silver.<\/p>\n There was also gold for Luc McLeod<\/strong> in the 400m, winning in 47.68<\/p>\n *Sunday performances\u00a0 TO BE UPDATED<\/strong><\/p>\n +++<\/p>\n Laura Muir<\/strong> and Jemma Reekie<\/strong> continued their preparations for the Commonwealth Games with race sin America and France respectively.<\/p>\n Laura featured in the Women\u2019s Mile at the Daimond League meet in Euguene. In a classy field, the Scot finished in 10th<\/sup> place with SB run of 4:22.31.<\/p>\n Jemma was back on the start-line after missing the UK Champs through concussion. The Kilbarchan AAC athlete clocked 2:00.45\u00a0 to finish seventh in her 800m race in Nancy.<\/p>\n +++<\/p>\n Pursuit 5000 Results<\/a><\/p>\n Stride Athletics<\/strong> and Monument Mile Classic race organiser Michael Wright<\/strong> teamed up to host the Pursuit 5000<\/strong> in Stirling on Saturday.<\/p>\n There was real quality from vistiing athletes with, for example, the Men\u2019s top race at 5000m won in 13:26 by Jacob Deacon<\/strong>. Taking the Women\u2019s race at 15:35 was Madelene Wanvik Hollum.<\/strong><\/p>\n From a Scottish perspective there were strong runs over both 800m and 5000m.<\/p>\n Andrew McGill<\/strong> posted a PB for third in the top 800m race at 1:48.31. Guy Learmonth<\/strong> at 1:50 in that race, too.\u00a0Hannah Cameron<\/strong> second in top women\u2019s 800m at 2:03.78.<\/p>\n There were Women\u2019s 5000m PB runs for Stefanie Tucker<\/strong> at 15:52.13 and Beth Ansell<\/strong> at 16.01.71. Stef took second place and Beth was fifth.<\/p>\n *Fiona Matheson<\/strong> clocked 19.25.13 for W65 British Record for 5000m on the track.
