Photo by Bobby Gavin<\/strong><\/p>\n Picked for Scotland! 39 take step to Scotstoun as team revealed<\/a><\/p>\n Mark Pollard<\/strong> has offered warm congratulations to our Team Scotland<\/strong> athletes after many years of training, commitment and competition.<\/p>\n A 39-strong group has been named for Glasgow 2026<\/strong> following the qualification and selection process.<\/p>\n Mark, the scottish<\/strong>athletics Head of Performance, will be Head Coach again with Julie Mollison<\/strong>, our Head of Coaching and Welfare, in the Team Manager role again, too.<\/p>\n The team selected looks like a cohort replete with possibilities and we send our warm congratulations to every single athlete and their families, coaches and clubs on making Team Scotland this year.<\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019re delighted with the Team Scotland selection announcement and 39 athletes now confirmed for Glasgow 2026,\u2019 said Mark.<\/p>\n \u2018Being picked for Scotland for a Commonwealth Games is always an exciting moment and we congratulate athletes, their coaches and their families on selection.<\/p>\n \u2018We want to highlight, too, the important role played by numerous Scottish clubs played in the development of these athletes over a number of years.<\/p>\n \u2018Always on these occasions it bears repeating that success in athletics isn\u2019t achieved overnight or anything like it \u2013 quite the opposite, in fact.<\/p>\n \u2018In so many cases, this is the culmination of many years of hard work, good coaching and development work by clubs along the pathway.<\/p>\n \u2018That applies just as much to those competing for Team Scotland at the Commonwealths for the fourth, third or second time as well as those making their debut.<\/p>\n \u2018We had three athletes pre-selected (via World Champs performances in 2025) and eight Para athletes. Now the team is 39 with additional places granted specifically for relays (after discussions with Commonwealth Games Scotland and the Commonwealth Games Federation).<\/p>\n \u2018There will be relay teams at Scotstoun in the Mixed 4x400m \u2013 a debut for that event in the Games \u2013 and the Women\u2019s 4x100m.<\/p>\n \u2018When the standards were announced, they were regarded as challenging but aspirational.
