He only broke his racing absence mid-May to win the UCI MTB World Cup race in <a target=\"_self\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/nove-mesto-na-morave\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto<\/a> in typical emphatic fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling did not comment on how Pidcock\u2019s illness might affect his place on the Tour de France start list.<\/p>\n<h2>Pidcock hopes to chase stages not GC at the Tour de France<\/h2>\n<p>Pidcock rode to a breakout third place at the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a last summer, but hinted he wouldn\u2019t try to race GC against Poga\u010dar and the Tour de France big-4 this July.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was expected to factor in the many breakaway stages scattered through <em>Le Tour.<\/em> He dropped a pack of elite climbers at Milano-Torino and placed second to only Poga\u010dar at Milan-San Remo this spring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year I\u2019m not going with any expectations [for the Tour de France],\u201d Pidcock said this month <a target=\"_blank\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZVKBxPjBha\/?img_index=1\" rel=\"noopener\">on the Jan Fredono podcast<\/a>. \u201cI want to race, and I want to have fun, and the rest will come.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If I\u2019m not saying, \u2018I want to win a stage, I want to podium, I want to be top-5,\u2019 or whatever it is, then there is nothing to fail at,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling ended its update Tuesday on a positive note.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile disappointed to miss the team\u2019s home race, Tom has returned home to Andorra where he will continue to train and is now very much looking forward to competing on his adopted home roads around the mountains of Andorra,\u201d read the message.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><span hidden=\"\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/div>\n<p><script async defer src=\"https:\/\/platform.instagram.com\/en_US\/embeds.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/road\/road-racing\/pidcock-viral-infection-tour-de-france-setback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pidcock scraps Tour de Suisse from program at short notice as he builds toward first Tour de France with Pinarello-Q36.5.
