Some terrible news from Montreal. A 38-year-old cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by two drivers in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The incident occured on Tuesday afternoon, just before 4 p.m., according to CityNews<\/a>.<\/p>\n According to Montreal police, the rider was hit at the intersection of Davidson and Notre-Dame streets.<\/p>\n Investigators believe the cyclist was first hit by one driver and thrown to the ground. Then he was being struck by a second motorist travelling north on Davidson Street.<\/p>\n The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to CityNews.<\/p>\n Neither of the drivers involved was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n The news comes amid ongoing debates about Montreal\u2019s cycling infrastructure. After a decade of expansion of bike lanes under former mayor Val\u00e9rie Plante, the new administration has been aiming to remove or cancel future projects.<\/p>\n In April, the city put a planned R\u00e9seau express v\u00e9lo (REV) extension on hold.<\/a> That was days after Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada dismissed reports the project had stalled, according to the Montreal Gazette.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s an enormous loss if they don\u2019t do it.
