Justin Bieber was recently spotted<\/a> trading in his luxury cars and private jet for, of all things, an old GT i-Drive. A sweet bike, and one I lusted after a few decades ago. But it would not have been my first guess, or second, if you asked me what bike the Biebs picked up to cruise around L.A. with a buddy.<\/p>\n But hey, it\u2019s a great choice! A couple used bikes (Bieber\u2019s friend was on a sweet rig from recently defunct KHS with some scary looking triple crown forks and vee-brakes), are all you need to have a good time. Hitting curbs, crusing around with your buds, skipping traffic. Why not?<\/p>\n Some people will probably mention that Biebs should probably have donned a helmet for the adventure. But that pink fuzzy hat looks pretty soft, right? Right? And there are studies showing it might have been the safer choice<\/a> for dealing with L.A. traffic, if not for actually crashing.<\/p>\n So, a person riding a bike isn\u2019t really news. At least not outside the world of clebrity reporting. But it made me question, is Bieb\u2019s song\u00a0Speed Demon<\/em> actually about the joy of riding a bike really fast?<\/p>\n There are some hints it coulde be.<\/p>\n \u201cI got a lot of mountains to climb,\u201d the Canadian-born singer croons. \u201cI had to leave some baggage behind,\u201d he says in the next line. Fair enough, if he wants that KOM. Bikepackings cool, but not if you want to go fast.<\/p>\n A short while later, Bieb\u2019s hints at a force \u201cpaving me a new lane and giving me an energy.\u201d We\u2019re excited about separated bike lanes, too! We\u2019re glad to see an Ontario boy recognizes the importance of alternative transportation infrastructure when others from his home province are less receptive of the idea<\/a>.<\/p>\n Anyway, here\u2019s\u00a0Speed Demon<\/em>, which, fine, probably isn\u2019t about riding bikes. But it should be, right?<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
