Thanks for your patience.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meets.rosterathletics.com\/public\/competitions\/details\/schedule?id=28381\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loughborough International Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Match events wins, Personal Bests and a Scottish U20 record in the sprints were among the highlights for Scots at the Loughborough International.<\/p>\n<p>The 68th staging of this traditional season curtain-raiser held attention for fully eight hours or more at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>When the dust settles, there will be plenty to reflect upon via performances from athletes picked for Scotland and a further seven selected to represent GB and NI U20.<\/p>\n<p>One of those, <strong>Sophie Thomas<\/strong>, clocked a Scottish U20 Women\u2019s Record for 100m in an early guest races.<\/p>\n<p>In the Match itself, with Scotland up against GB Juniors, Wales, England and the hosts Loughborough, there were event wins for<strong> Ben MacMillan, Beth Ansell, Becca Scott<\/strong> and<strong> Matthew McKenna.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Arguably the best was saved for last. Ben was still in third at the bell in the Men\u2019s 3000m but came through to win well in 8:21.65 after a first kilometre of 2.59.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I am so proud to represent Scotland with a Senior vest on the track for the first time,\u2019 said the Falkirk Victoria Harriers athlete.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I am really patriotic about it and I am off to the United States to support Scotland in the World Cup.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Sophie Thomas was quick off the mark early in the programme with superb 100m Guest Race win at 11.49 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a new Scottish U20 Record and also inside the qualifying standard asked for by British Athletics for World Juniors.<\/p>\n<p>Sophie later clocked 23.41 for third in the 200m as <strong>Emma Clark<\/strong> represented Scotland. Whitemoss AAC athlete Emma was rewarded for her good run with 23.87 PB.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-115888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z911119.jpeg 1417w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the match events, the first win came in the Women\u2019s Ambulant Long Jump.<strong> Becca Scott<\/strong> leapt to a new PB of 5.23m on a day when she also represented GB and NI Para Futures over 200m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick Percy<\/strong> followed that with yet another win in this fixture via the Men\u2019s Discus Match event.<\/p>\n<p>Nick threw 60.09m this time and was pleased to welcome young Scot, <strong>Jacob McKinlay<\/strong>, to the \u2018podium\u2019. Third-placed Jacob threw a PB of 56.63m as he represented GB Juniors.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It is good to see young discus throwers coming through and nice to meet Jacob today \u2013 I have already told me I am happy to help him in any way I can,\u2019 said Nick.<\/p>\n<p>There were second places in the Match for<strong> Kirsty Law<\/strong> in the discus (50.14m) and <strong>Chris Bennett<\/strong> in the hammer (66.87m).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Callum Newby<\/strong> took third in the Men\u2019s Long Jump at 7.21m.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-115887\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Z926531.jpeg 1620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew McKenna<\/strong> was another Scottish winner in the Men\u2019s 800m. Selected for Scotland, Matthew was then picked by GB Juniors and won the race in 1:52.17.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jordan Phillips<\/strong>, called up for Scotland, took third place in the Match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beth Ansell<\/strong> won the Women\u2019s Mile in fine style. The Edinburgh AC athlete took that one with a PB run of 4:44.19 and the victory looked certain from the bell after Beth broke clear<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The team captain, <strong>Taylah Paterson<\/strong>, mentioned on Saturday night in our meeting the importance of taking your opportunity and not taking a Scotland vest for granted,\u2019 said Beth.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I took that mindset into the race. It was my first time on the track for Scotland and while you never know how the first race of the season might go I felt good and am very happy with that.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Brown<\/strong> was in contention in the Gandy Mile for most of the race and finished third in the match with PB run of 4:06.12 for the Aberdeen AAC athlete.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/697105264_18591577660044882_6950951116413211027_n.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-115896\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/697105264_18591577660044882_6950951116413211027_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"859\" height=\"572\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/697105264_18591577660044882_6950951116413211027_n.jpg 859w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/697105264_18591577660044882_6950951116413211027_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/697105264_18591577660044882_6950951116413211027_n-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 859px) 100vw, 859px\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mhairi Patience<\/strong> finished strongly for third in the Women\u2019s 400m Hurdles with 59.95 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bradley Francis<\/strong> went one better with a second place finish in the Men\u2019s 400m Hurdles. Bradley clocked 52.11 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hannah Cameron<\/strong> was another match second place in the Women\u2019s 800m. After racing in Manchester the previous day, Hannah\u2019s \u2018championship scenario\u2019 weekend delivered a solid run as she contested strongly for much of the race before a third place finish (second in Match).<\/p>\n<p>In the field, there were Pole Vault appearances for GB Juniors for <strong>Charis Crawford <\/strong>and<strong> Nathan Mobbs<\/strong> and Scotland appearances in the javelin for<strong> Izzy McHattie <\/strong>and <strong>Greg Millar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There were Triple Jump appearances for Scotland for <strong>Bera Ajala<\/strong> and <strong>Silver Nwabuzor.<\/strong> There was a first Senior vest for <strong>Leanna Elliot<\/strong> in the Women\u2019s High Jump.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland men were fourth in the 4x100m Relay.
