{"id":120485,"date":"2026-05-13T05:11:53","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T05:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/13\/luka-doncic-speaks-on-injury-after-lakers-swept-by-okc\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T05:11:53","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T05:11:53","slug":"luka-doncic-speaks-on-injury-after-lakers-swept-by-okc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/13\/luka-doncic-speaks-on-injury-after-lakers-swept-by-okc\/","title":{"rendered":"Luka Doncic Speaks on Injury After Lakers Swept by OKC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Los Angeles Lakers\u2019 season officially came crashing down Monday night after a second-round sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, but one of the biggest lingering questions surrounded Luka Doncic and whether he was ever close to returning from injury.<\/p>\n<p>After weeks of speculation surrounding his status, Doncic made it clear following the loss that a playoff comeback was never realistically on the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very frustrating,\u201d Doncic <a href=\"https:\/\/lakersnation.com\/lakers-news-luka-doncic-wasnt-close-to-returning-in-playoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> about missing the postseason. \u201cI know some people wanted me back, but obviously I wasn\u2019t close. There was some stuff in the media that went out that wasn\u2019t true. If I could be out there, I one hundred percent would\u2019ve been. Everybody in the room knows that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doncic suffered a Grade two left hamstring strain against Oklahoma City on April two, the same game Austin Reaves went down with a Grade two left oblique strain.<\/p>\n<p>Reaves eventually returned during the first-round series against Houston, but Doncic never came close to full basketball activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really tough,\u201d he continued. \u201cLike I said, this is the best time to play basketball. I was sad not to be able to help my team. Looking to the offseason, obviously I\u2019m still doing recovery. So that\u2019s the first thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There had been growing outside pressure and speculation about a possible return during the playoffs, especially after videos surfaced of Doncic working out privately.<\/p>\n<p>But the Lakers superstar shut down those rumors himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was doing lifting, running and shooting, but I haven\u2019t done contact,\u201d Doncic said. \u201cI wasn\u2019t cleared yet, so that stuff will come in the next week or two probably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The injury completely changed the direction of the Lakers\u2019 postseason.
