Before Game two against the San Antonio Spurs, Anthony Edwards warned his teammates about the danger of relaxing after stealing Game one on the road.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Minnesota, Edwards believes his team ignored the message completely.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe natural tendency for teams that steal the first game, the away team, they get blown out in Game 2,\u201d Edwards said<\/a> before the game. \u201cWe can\u2019t come out cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Timberwolves were overwhelmed from the opening quarter in a brutal 133-95 loss that evened the Western Conference semifinals series at one game apiece.<\/p>\n

Minnesota scored just 17 points in the first quarter, committed 22 turnovers and quickly fell apart against a desperate Spurs squad led by Victor Wembanyama and De\u2019Aaron Fox.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came out cool,\u201d Edwards admitted afterward. \u201cLook what happened. My momma used to tell me that a hard head make a soft ass. That\u2019s what happened tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was even more direct following the 38-point defeat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just got punked,\u201d Finch told his team after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cPunked is crazy,\u201d Edwards responded. \u201cBut, I mean, just look at the film and see what we can gain from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

San Antonio\u2019s defensive pressure completely disrupted Minnesota\u2019s offense throughout the night. The Spurs aggressively trapped Edwards near half court, pressured ball handlers full court and forced the Timberwolves into rushed decisions and stagnant possessions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey was playing crazy, right?\u201d Edwards said. \u201cWatch film, find the holes in it. We didn\u2019t make enough shots to get them out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finch also criticized the Timberwolves\u2019 offensive execution, saying the team spent too much time \u201cdribbling and going nowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGot to get off of it,\u201d Finch said. \u201cGot to use it as a catalyst for ball movement, what it should be. I thought we dribbled to tough spots. I thought we were late getting off it. I thought our spacing around it wasn\u2019t really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about Finch\u2019s comments, Edwards didn\u2019t argue.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know. I got to watch the film,\u201d Edwards said. \u201cBut he\u2019s the head coach. I\u2019m with whatever he says. So if that\u2019s what he said, that\u2019s what we were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
