<\/p>\n
The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a contract extension with head coach Charles Lee following a season in which the franchise showed major improvement and emerged as one of the league\u2019s stronger teams after a slow start.<\/p>\n
Although Charlotte ultimately fell short of reaching the playoffs after losing in the play-in tournament, the organization made significant progress during Lee\u2019s second season as head coach.<\/p>\n
The Hornets improved by 25 wins compared to the previous year, continuing the rebuilding process under Lee\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n
Lee originally joined Charlotte before the 2024-25 season after serving as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.<\/p>\n
Hornets executive Jeff Peterson praised Lee for helping establish the type of culture and structure the franchise wants moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cCharles has done an outstanding job establishing a foundation for who we want to be as a team,\u201d Peterson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom day one, Charles and his staff have prioritized player development, creating an environment where each of our players are committed to getting better and continue to improve.<\/p>\n

Lee also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the franchise and said he believes the team is moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank Rick, Gabe and Jeff for their support as well as my coaching staff and the players for their tireless work and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lee added that he is encouraged by the progress the roster has shown and remains optimistic about the future.<\/p>\n
