Trio are first names selected for Glasgow 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Team Scotland<\/strong> has named eight athletes in their Para cohort for the <strong>Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is a very exciting moment for each and all of these athletes with selection now confirmed for the Games at Scotstoun later this summer.<\/p>\n<p><em>We send our warm congratulations to those selected and their families, coaches and clubs with eight athletes picked a strong representation for Para athletics in Scotland.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Birmingham 2022 silver medallist <strong>Sean Frame<\/strong> returns for Glasgow 2026 and Paralympic champions <strong>Ben Sandilands<\/strong> and<strong> Owen Miller<\/strong> will make their Commonwealth Games debuts.<\/p>\n<p>Paris 2024 Paralympic champion and world record holder Ben leads a trio of athletes in the T20 1500m. The Fife AC athlete is joined by Tokyo 2020 Paralympic gold medallist Owen and World finalist <strong>Steven Bryce<\/strong>. All three train together under coach <strong>Steve Doig.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fresh from racing both Boston and London marathons within a week, silver medallist in the T54 Marathon in Birmingham, Sean Frame moves down in distance to take on the 1500m in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Melanie Woods <\/strong>and<strong> Alexander Thomson<\/strong> also return for a second Games. It\u2019s my first Commonwealth Games and it\u2019s been something I\u2019ve been dreaming about. I\u2019m excited to compete and want to win a medal . . . that would be incredible.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Joanna said: \u2018It\u2019s such an honour to be able to put on the Scotland vest and represent my home country at the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Racing for Team Scotland it\u2019s more like home, you\u2019re racing with close friends, those who understand you.
