Karl-Anthony Towns played 20 minutes, finishing with 17 points, six assists, and six rebounds in a performance defined more by rhythm than volume.

After the game, Towns pointed to execution and system familiarity as the foundation of New York’s offensive flow. “We’re just doing a really good job of executing what we want to do and having a better understanding of the new system. We’re doing a great job of cutting and bringing energy to our cuts and putting ourselves in position where we can succeed.”

The Knicks’ spacing and ball movement created constant advantages against Philadelphia’s defense, which struggled to contain multiple actions in sequence. Towns described the group’s cohesion as a product of trust and role clarity within the offense.

On fan presence and travel support, he addressed the atmosphere surrounding the series and the reported ticket distribution. “Like I said before, I think we got the best fans in the world and they show so much love to us and give us such energy no matter where we play. So we just got to continue to do our job, be the best version of ourselves when we step on that court so we can give our fans something to cheer for.”

The Knicks extended a historic playoff surge, having now outscored opponents by 135 points across their last four games. Towns emphasized restraint despite the statistical dominance. “We’re playing well, but it doesn’t mean anything if we can’t find a way to get three more wins. So we just got to stick to the task at hand. The key word in the last four games is “last.” It doesn’t have anything to do with the next three, four, five, six. We got to stay locked in and be disciplined at a high level.”

New York’s adjustment during the postseason has also shaped its offensive identity, particularly since the Atlanta series. “We’ve just done a better job as a team executing. Obviously we changed a little bit of things up and it’s been very good for us.”

Towns also highlighted his role as a facilitator in the Knicks’ system, where he has increasingly initiated offense. “I just love that I get to get my teammates involved and I get the chance to quarterback the offense and put them in positions where I feel they can succeed. They’ve obliged. Like I said before, they’re trusting me more with the ball right now. I just want to continue to repay their trust with the right plays and making the right decision.”

New York’s late-season trajectory has been a focal point internally. “I would hope so. You hope that at this time you’re the best version of yourselves. For all the guys who have been covering us all year, I’ve always talked about getting better by 1% every single day. At the end, we’ll be proud and happy of the result we bring in the playoffs. I think right now we’re seeing a culmination of the trials and tribulations we went through in the season to be at this point.”

Towns also emphasized internal chemistry, particularly with OG Anunoby, as the Knicks continue to refine their execution in real time. “It’s special. Anyone who knows me knows I’m very close with OG. I love OG, but I love all of our guys. For us to be executing at this level speaks to the unity our team has right now and the sacrifice being made by all of us for the greater good of the team.”

Source link

The New York Knicks opened their Eastern Conference semifinals with a statement win, overpowering the Philadelphia 76ers 137-98 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night in Game 1.
