This converts rider input into electrical energy, which is then transmitted to a 250W rear hub motor delivering up to 75Nm of torque. Energy is stored in a 700Wh battery mounted beneath the seat, enabling extended riding range and consistent power delivery.

The system offers five selectable power modes including Muscular, Active, Balanced, Punch and Dynamite, allowing riders to adjust the level of assistance, with support of up to 400%. By removing the need for traditional gear shifting, the setup simplifies operation while maintaining responsive performance across varying riding conditions.

In addition to propulsion, the system integrates regenerative braking, helping to recover energy during deceleration. The absence of a physical chain also reduces maintenance requirements and enables quieter operation. A further functional benefit is the ability to reverse by pedalling backwards, addressing a common limitation in recumbent trike manoeuvrability.

ICE Trikes has also incorporated connectivity features, including smartphone integration and anti-theft technology, aligning the system with broader trends in smart mobility.

According to the company, the introduction of the PERS platform reflects a continued focus on improving accessibility and ease of use, while leveraging electrification to enhance performance.

Source link

ICE Trikes has introduced a new chainless e-assist system developed in partnership with CIXI, offering a different riding experience for recumbent trike users.
