{"id":117771,"date":"2026-04-12T05:37:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T05:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/12\/americas-newest-cycling-team-braces-for-paris-roubaix-debut\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T05:37:25","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T05:37:25","slug":"americas-newest-cycling-team-braces-for-paris-roubaix-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basketball.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/12\/americas-newest-cycling-team-braces-for-paris-roubaix-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"America\u2019s Newest Cycling Team Braces for Paris-Roubaix Debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"justify-start\">\n<nav class=\"align-left col-span-full mb-base\" data-pom-e2e-test-id=\"breadcrumbs\"\/>\n<p>Modern Adventure earned a rare first-year invitation to Paris-Roubaix and team boss George Hincapie says he&#8217;s more nervous than his riders. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/p>\n<p class=\"fp-leadCaption py-tight text-left font-utility text-utility3-size leading-utility3-line-height text-secondary\">Modern Adventure will race Sunday at Paris-Roubaix. <!-- --> (Photo: Gautier Demouveaux\/NurPhoto via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p>Published April 11, 2026 11:37PM<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a target=\"_self\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/modern-adventure-pro-cycling\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Modern Adventure<\/a> rocks up to the start line on Sunday as one of the surprise teams to race cycling\u2019s most brutal race at Paris-Roubaix.<\/p>\n<p>After a solid spring filled with <a target=\"_self\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/road\/road-racing\/americas-newest-bike-team-modern-adventure-nearly-won-in-its-debut-now-comes-the-hard-part\/\" rel=\"noopener\">breakaways and podiums<\/a>, the team <a target=\"_self\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/news\/modern-adventure-lands-paris-roubaix-invite-in-latest-first-season-coup\/\" rel=\"noopener\">snagged a rare first-year invitation<\/a> to the prestigious monument contested over 55km of harsh cobblestones.<\/p>\n<p>The link is obvious via co-owner <a target=\"_self\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/velo.outsideonline.com\/tag\/george-hincapie\/\" rel=\"noopener\">George Hincapie<\/a>, a 17-time Roubaix veteran who knows every jagged stone between Compi\u00e8gne and the velodrome.<\/p>\n<p>That pedigree helped open the door. What the team does with it remains TBD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, it\u2019s a huge honor for us to be invited to this race, and like I\u2019m just telling the guys we\u2019ve got to fight like hell,\u201d Hincapie said Saturday. \u201cThis is going to be one of the hardest days of their lives, but it could be one of the most rewarding days of their lives as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" class=\"text-brand-primary underline hover:text-brand-primary\/85 break-words overflow-wrap-anywhere underline-offset-[3px]\" data-afl-p=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maprocycling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Modern Adventure<\/a>\u2019s unique jersey has been animating the spring classics, and they\u2019re hoping for more Sunday at Paris-Roubaix.<\/p>\n<p>No one inside the team is pretending a win is on the table against the likes of Tadej Poga\u010dar.<\/p>\n<p>The targets are more realistic, like making the early move, or, if the stars align, landing a rider inside the top 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important for us to just stay as focused as possible, and focus on the basics of what got them here,\u201d Hincapie said. \u201cEven though it\u2019s the hardest race in the world, the basics are still going to be super important throughout the day. So just trying to keep them calm, not as nervous as I am. Ezra, he\u2019s full of power and no fear, which is the ingredients for a good Paris-Roubaix,\u201d Hincapie said. \u201cI was in that same position in 1994. I think he\u2019s got a very similar perspective right now. I\u2019m just hoping for good luck for him and I hope he has a great day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hincapie defended the team\u2019s invite despite some suggestions that Paris-Roubaix might be too much, too soon for the startup team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought the same thing when we got the call in January, \u2018Are\u00a0we ready for a race like Roubaix\u2019?\u201d Hincapie said. \u201cBut after seeing how the guys have ridden, I am very comfortable that we\u2019re here, and there are a lot more costs and logistics doing this race. We\u2019re super proud to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Modern Adventure\u2019s been picking up other high-profile invites across its debut season, including a WorldTour stage-race debut at the Volta a Catalunya last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, we\u2019re a smaller team, so we have modest goals, but we think we can have somebody in the breakaway,\u201d Hincapie said. \u201cAnd then Ben Oliver has been riding really well, so hopefully he can sneak into a top 20 finish.
