UCI would never allow that, and there will be numerous hours of live race coverage. But the organising body seems fine with the women\u2019s race, touted as a potential showdown pitting Visma\u2019s twin stars Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Marianne Vos against an all-star list including Lorena Wiebes, Elise Chabbey, Cat Ferguson, Elisa Balsamo, Lotte Kopecky and Canada\u2019s own Roubaix winner, Allison Jackson, being cut to a scant 90 minutes of live broadcast.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"sXEO3pdPiQ\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/feature\/even-more-canadians-added-to-the-paris-roubaix-start-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Even more Canadians added to the Paris-Roubaix start list<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cEven more Canadians added to the Paris-Roubaix start list\u201d \u2014 Canadian Cycling Magazine\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/feature\/even-more-canadians-added-to-the-paris-roubaix-start-list\/embed\/#?secret=P5QP6kjpOU#?secret=sXEO3pdPiQ\" data-secret=\"sXEO3pdPiQ\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That coverage won\u2019t even include several of the more decisive cobbled sectors that <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/influencers-and-americans-paris-roubaix-wildcards-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">organisers were so proud to include in the women\u2019s edition this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Cyclists Alliance, and many fans around the world, not happy. And quite rightfully so.<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cFans have shown they care\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the biggest races on the calendar. A race that has quickly become a defining showcase for women\u2019s cycling. And yet, just as momentum continues to build, visibility is being pulled back,\u201d Cyclists Alliance posted on Instagram. \u201cProgress in this sport is not guaranteed. It needs to be protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rider\u2019s advocacy group says it\u2019s not just about seeing how the race unfolds. \u201cCoverage is not just about watching a race. Legions of them. And there are stats to prove it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFans have already shown they care. The growth in audiences, engagement, and attention around races like Paris-Roubaix proves that the demand is there. Numbers from last week\u2019s Tour of Flanders showed nearly one million viewers tuned in for the women\u2019s race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite increasing numbers of viewers<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSilence makes it easier for decisions like this to continue. Pressure is what drives change,\u201d CA says. \u201cThe race is tomorrow. The group includes four calls to action to support women\u2019s cycling and increase coverage. We\u2019ve shared the organisations list below:<\/p>\n<p><em>1. Watch wherever you can, and if access is limited, say something. Broadcasters and organisers need to hear that this matters.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>2. Engage and talk about the race. Share it, post about it, follow along live, and bring others into it. The more noise around the race, the harder it is to ignore.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>3. Support the riders and teams by engaging with their content and amplifying their stories.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>4. And most importantly, Speak up. Call out the lack of coverage. Tag broadcasters. Tag UCI.
