One source close to the situation didn\u2019t hold back on how things have unfolded internally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is as toxic of a team situation as any in the league. They waited until the very end on Giannis, and now everyone knows,\u201d Charania said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite heavy interest around the league, Milwaukee ultimately held onto their superstar at the trade deadline, but not for lack of offers. More than a dozen teams reached out to the Bucks with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors among the leading suitors.<\/p>\n<p>Other teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers, were also involved in discussions but were unwilling to meet Milwaukee\u2019s steep demands. The Bucks reportedly asked for Evan Mobley in a potential Cavaliers deal and VJ Edgecombe in talks with Philadelphia, along with additional assets.<\/p>\n<p>There were also mixed opinions across the league about how those negotiations were handled.<\/p>\n<p>Some executives felt general manager Jon Horst was \u201cgenuine\u201d in his efforts, while others claimed he \u201ctook days\u201d to respond to calls and messages, leading to the belief that Milwaukee \u201cwas not ready to pull off a franchise-altering move.<\/p>\n<p>Behind closed doors, Antetokounmpo had already begun considering his future. As the Bucks hovered around the playoff picture, he reportedly told the organization it may be time to move on. He and his representatives even met with owners Jimmy Haslam and Wes Edens, urging them to \u201cdo right\u201d by him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiannis has wanted to handle this professionally by being very up front with the team.
