The Los Angeles Lakers continue to roll, and in the process, JJ Redick quietly added another major achievement to his coaching r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Following a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Redick secured the 100th victory of his coaching career while also guiding the Lakers to a 50-win season, their second straight under his leadership.<\/p>\n

The milestone places him among notable names in franchise history, becoming the 12th Lakers coach to reach the mark and the first since Phil Jackson to deliver back-to-back 50-win campaigns.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t deserve to be mentioned along with Phil or Pat, any of those guys,\u201d Redick said<\/a> after the win. \u201cI\u2019ve got a lot left to accomplish, for sure. I think both teams, I\u2019ve had the same staff for the most part both years, I think we are resilient and we are resolved. Part of that is like what I talked about pregame in terms of just not willing to quit on a problem that sometimes seems unsolvable. And then just the resolve of wanting to win all the time. We have competitive guys in our locker room and I got some sickos in the coaching staff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka made sure to celebrate the achievement, even organizing a surprise that included recorded messages from Redick\u2019s sons, a personal touch during a night filled with team milestones.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think for our players, they\u2019ve done a really good job both seasons with a lot of challenges, most of them unforeseen, of just staying the course and not letting go of the rope,\u201d Redick added. \u201cAnd I think for our staff, an 82-game season is going to present a lot of different challenges and problems and just continuing to work to solve those problems. That\u2019s what it says. It\u2019s hard to win 50 games. I was fortunate, outside of the shortened seasons I was part of, I think 10 of the 12 years I was part of 50-win teams. I know what it looks like to win in the regular season. Our group, this year in particular, I think has just done a good job of weathering all the different challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n
