Yvonne and Lewis land golds at Lindsays Scottish 10-Mile Champs &#8211; Scottish Athletics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"meta-date\">Monday 30th March 2026<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>Report by Bobby Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomscottroadraces.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tom Scott Road Races website<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Lindsays Scottish 10 Mile Championships<\/strong> and <strong>62nd Tom Scott Memorial Road Races<\/strong> will be remembered as an attritional test of endurance, as athletes battled driving rain and winds gusting up to 45mph across an exposed Strathclyde Park.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, many of those who raced later described it as the toughest conditions they had ever experienced and we send warm congratulations to each and every finisher.<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s race it was <strong>Lewis Hannigan<\/strong> (Kilbarchan AAC) who would master the elements best, claiming the 10 Mile title and Tom Scott Trophy for the second time in three years.<\/p>\n<p>Hannigan and <strong>Callum Hawkins<\/strong> broke away early in the race and were inseparable as they turned off the loch just after the Mile Three.<\/p>\n<p>It was as the pair headed up the hill towards M &amp; Ds that Hannigan broke away, developing a gap which he never looked likely to relinquish, and eventually crossing the line in 49:08 mins, some 27 seconds ahead of his highly decorated club-mate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lewis Rodgers<\/strong> (Fife AC), who ran solo for much of the race, ran an excellent race to better his fourth-place finish from 2022, claiming bronze in a time of 51:18 mins.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@scottishathletics\/shorts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Video content on our YouTube channel<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-114602\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.scottishathletics.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Tomscott26-920458.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Photo by Bobby Gavin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/scottishathletics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bobby Gavin photo albums on Facebook\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s race saw <strong>Yvonne McNairn<\/strong> claim her first 10 Mile title in a time of 60:10 mins.<\/p>\n<p>It was a dominant performance from the Giffnock North athlete, crossing the line over a minute ahead of the 2019 champion <strong>Elspeth Curran<\/strong> of Kilbarchan (61:15 mins).<\/p>\n<p>The gap between second and third was much closer, with <strong>Meredith Reid<\/strong> of Inverclyde a further 15 seconds back in 61:30 mins.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking post\u2011race, Yvonne described the conditions as the toughest she had ever experienced in a road race, explaining that her 10-mile split during the recent Inverness Half Marathon had been quicker.<\/p>\n<p>It really was a day when times went out the window, and the goal was simply to battle as hard as possible against the elements and get ot he finish.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Yvonne McNairn on Scottish 10 mile title\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZmEK-de0z4c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
