scottishathletics, in partnership with Live Life Aberdeenshire and local athletics clubs, is delighted to announce the launch of the LET’s GO programme in Peterhead and Stonehaven.

The initiative aims to inspire children aged 5-8 years old to enjoy movement and develop a lifelong love for athletics.

LET’S GO offers a welcoming, inclusive environment where youngsters can take part in activities such as Run, Push, Jump, and Throw.

The programme is designed to build confidence, improve physical literacy, and provide a positive first experience of sport. By making exercise enjoyable and accessible, LET’S GO encourages children to move, learn, and grow.

Delivered by Live Life Aberdeenshire, LET’S GO will ensure that young people in both Peterhead and Stonehaven receive high-quality coaching and support. The programme connects local clubs, parents, and the wider community, fostering collaboration and a shared commitment to healthy, active lifestyles.

Classes will commence in May, with an eight-week block available for £38.40. Concessions are offered to ensure that all families can participate, regardless of background. Sessions are open for registration now, and places are expected to fill quickly.

Speaking about the launch, Stuart Grant, Active Schools and Community Sports Manager, at Live Life Aberdeenshire said:

“We’re thrilled to partner with scottishathletics and our local clubs to deliver LET’S GO,

“This programme is all about helping children feel confident and excited about moving and creating opportunities for them to thrive in a supportive environment.”

Erin Gillen, National Club Manager and LET’S GO Lead at scottishathletics added:

“LET’S GO is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when organisations work together for the benefit of local communities,

“We look forward to seeing the impact in Peterhead and Stonehaven and having more young people being introduced to the benefits of Athletics.”

Following this pilot programme, both partners intend to grow the initiative across Aberdeenshire ensuring more children have the chance to discover the joy of athletics.
