Illini Add Sophomore Transfer Divine Bourrage – University of Illinois Athletics

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women’s basketball head coach Shauna Green has announced the addition of Divine Bourrage (BUR-ridge) to the program. Bourrage – a rising sophomore transfer from LSU – has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois and is set to join the program with the 2026-27 season.

Bourrage is a 5-foot-11-inch guard from Davenport, Iowa. She was the first player in the history of Davenport North High School to earn a Gatorade Player of the Year award (2023-24). During her junior season, Bourrage averaged 19.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. She followed that up with 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.6 steals, and a 1.80 assist/turnover ratio as a senior. Bourrage was a three-time IGCA Class 5A All-State selection including first team honors her last two years of prep ball.

On the national scene, Bourrage participated in the 2024 USA Women’s U18 National Team trials in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Additionally, she was one of 30 players invited to the first Stewie 30 Elite Camp that WNBA Champion Breanna Stewart puts on.

Highly rated out of high school, Bourrage was ranked No. 12 by ESPN, No. 7 by On3, No. 9 by Prospects Nation, No. 7 by 247Sports, and No. 11 by the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report in the Class of 2025.

During her freshman season at LSU, the Tigers posted a 29-6 overall record including a 12-4 reading in SEC play. In 2025-26, LSU advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive season.

As a Tiger, Bourrage appeared in 24 games, averaging nearly 10 minutes an outing (237 total minutes). The Iowan averaged 2.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.7 steals across her rookie campaign. Bourrage shot 33.3% (16-for-48) from the field, 31.3% (5-for-16) from 3-point range, and 65.0% (13-for-20) from the free throw line across the 2025-26 season.

Bourrage joins Green’s squad that is coming off a 22-12 season, which included the Illini’s second straight season with an NCAA Tournament win. The first addition to Illinois’ 2026-27 team, Bourrage marks the third five-star recruit on the roster, joining Berry Wallace and Destiny Jackson. She is also the first Iowa native fellow Iowan Green has had on her roster as a head coach.

HEAD COACH SHAUNA GREEN ON THE ADDITION OF DIVINE BOURRAGE:

“I am thrilled to have Divine join our family. We recruited her hard out of high school and know exactly what she can bring to our program. Her length, ability to score at all three levels, and her ability to defend and play multiple positions will help us tremendously! I can’t wait to get her here and get to work!”

DIVINE BOURRAGE ON WHY SHE CHOSE ILLINOIS:

“I chose Illinois because I want to grow as a player and have the chance to compete in front of my family. From a great relationship with the staff to mental health resources and an elite training facility, Illinois is the best place for me.”
