SERIES HISTORY

The Highlanders and Bearcats have met just once in the historic span of both programs. That meeting came all the way back in December of 2000 where the Bearcats won 79-51 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS

Cincinnati comes into Sunday’s meeting with a 1-1 record after dropping a game to #7 Louisville but picking up a win against Tennessee Tech 68-57. The Bearcats are off to a hot shooting start at 41% overall and a blistering 48% from three so far this season. The three-point shooting mark was boosted by an incredible shooting night at Louisville where the team went 9-13 from beyond the arc.

Similar to the Highlanders, the Bearcats have three players averaging double-digit points through the early going this season. Sophomore Braylyn Milton went off for 28 points against Louisville thanks to a 5-5 mark from three but cooled off against Tennessee Tech for just three points. Senior Mya Jackson has been more consistent scoring 12 at Louisville and 18 against Tennessee Tech.

TRAYLOR STAYS HOT

After a 10-point performance in her collegiate debut against Kentucky, Ashlyn Traylor continued her hot start with a 21-point performance against Emory & Henry this week. Traylor didn’t just light up the point column, the freshman created havoc on the court creating four steals, one block, six rebounds and two assists to check just about every box on the stat sheet.

WIN THE PAINT

So far this season the Highlanders have dominated opponents offensively in the paint. 78 of the team’s 146 points have come in the paint so far because of some great shot creation and selection. While the three-point shooting wasn’t as hot against Emory & Henry as it was against Kentucky, Radford was able to rely on sharpshooters Carmen Williams and Trinity Klock to keep the offense going.

AROUND THE BIG SOUTH

All of the Big South Conference’s 10 members have started their seasons this week with just about every team getting in the win column so far. Longwood picked up a big win Thursday night over Ohio while teams like Campbell, UNC Asheville, High Point, Presbyterian and USC Upstate have all taken care of business against lower-division foes.
