ADO has launched ADO Sense 3.0, a new environmental sensing system designed to give riders greater awareness of their surroundings, helping them identify potential risks and adjust their riding behaviour accordingly.
ADO Sense 3.0 combines LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and high-precision motion sensing to provide an additional layer of environmental awareness beyond normal human vision.
At the front of the bike, LiDAR acts as an environmental scanner, generating high-precision 3D point cloud data to continuously analyse the road ahead. It detects changes in distance, position and surrounding conditions, while in dynamic obstacle scenarios it can monitor an area up to 20 metres ahead to help identify potential risks before they become immediate threats.
The additional perception is particularly useful in complex urban environments. When approaching a blind 90-degree corner or an area with limited visibility, ADO Sense 3.0 can detect changes beyond the rider’s direct field of vision, providing additional information when unexpected obstacles or road users appear.
Rear-facing millimetre-wave radar extends this awareness to the area behind the bike. By monitoring approaching vehicles and surrounding traffic, the system is designed to reduce blind spots during manoeuvres such as overtaking or changing direction, giving riders a more complete view of their surroundings.
ADO Sense 3.0 also works with automatic shifting technology to improve riding comfort. By analysing riding conditions such as speed, cadence and gradient changes, the system helps optimise gear selection and power assistance, enabling smoother transitions when tackling challenging terrain.
ADO said the next generation of e-bikes should not only provide electric assistance but also greater environmental awareness. “We believe the next generation of e-bikes should not only assist riders electrically, but also with genuine environmental awareness,” the company stated.
