Canyon has launched a new Endurace CF SLX, which sits a tier below the CFR that was announced last month ahead of Paris-Roubaix. There’s also an update to the Endurace CF.
The Endurace CF SLX range starts at €3,999, with all five specs fitted with an electronic groupset. Prices for the five Endurace CF specs start at €1,699 and there is a mix of electronic and mechanical groupset options.
Almost as aero as the Endurace CFR
While the Endurace CFR is an all-out racing machine designed for the Spring Classics that, with the new Race cockpit, can be set up with geometry that is more aggressive than the Aeroad, the Endurace CF SLX has the same more relaxed Sport geometry as the previous generation Endurace.
But the CF SLX has had the same aero makeover as the CFR, which Canyon says makes it more aero than some WorldTour race bikes. Its 209 watts drag measured by Canyon at 45kmh is only a little greater than the 205 watts of the CFR.
The Endurace CF SLX has even wider tyre clearance than the CFR though: 38mm versus 35mm. It shares the CFR’s revised VCLS seatpost that dispenses with the split shaft and adds compliance to an aero design. Canyon claims it is 25% more compliant than a rigid seatpost.

The Endurace CF SLX has a new compact drop design of the variable width Pace aero cockpit to suit endurance riders. The Classic Drops fitted to the Aeroad, Ultimate and Endurace CFR have a 130mm drop, while the Compact Drops decrease this to 108mm. They’re slightly wider than the Classic Drops too and add an 8° flare, while the Classic Drops have zero flare.
While the previous model had in-frame storage in the top tube, Canyon has moved storage to the down tube in the new bike, where there’s more internal space. In line with its race orientation, the latest Endurace CFR doesn’t offer in-frame storage.
As with the Endurace CFR, Canyon has shortened the crank lengths fitted to all sizes of the Endurace CF SLX. The size M, for example, is fitted with 165mm cranks as against the 172.5mm length on the older Endurace.
A first for a Canyon road bike, the Endurace CF SLX can be fitted with its proprietary Defend mudguards. Canyon also has new wheels for the CF SLX 7 AXS spec, fitting its own ED 42 CF carbon wheels with a 42mm depth, 25mm internal width hooked rim and a claimed 1,550g wheelset weight.
New Endurace CF

While the Endurace CF has not been given the full aero treatment, it has had a makeover, with a frame with a sub-kilo claimed weight and some specs fitted with the VCLS 2.0 split shaft seatpost.
As with the CF SLX, there is 38mm tyre clearance, while the CF 8 Di2 spec is fitted with Canyon ED 42 CF wheels.
Top tube and frame bag mounts allow you to add bags for extra carrying capacity, although there’s no in-frame storage. As with the CF SLX, you can add Canyon mudguards and Canyon is speccing shorter cranks and narrower handlebars, in line with modern thinking on bike fit.
