Zalgiris Kaunas has taken concrete steps to bring Jonas Valanciunas back to Europe, reportedly putting forward a strong contract offer.

The proposal includes a guaranteed two-year deal with an option for an additional season, along with a salary of at least €2 million for the first year, signaling serious intent from the Lithuanian club.

However, Zalgiris are not alone in pursuing the veteran big man. Valanciunas is still under contract with the Denver Nuggets for another season, but his situation remains uncertain.

The team holds the flexibility to move on from his deal this summer, either by terminating the contract or potentially trading him, which could open the door for a return to Europe.

Currently tied to an NBA contract through July 8, 2026, Valanciunas’ future depends on how Denver approaches roster decisions after free agency begins.

Despite a reduced role this season, he remained productive, appearing in 65 games and providing efficient scoring and rebounding in limited minutes, shooting over 58% from the field.
