The Tour of Flanders. De Ronde van Vlaanderen. “Flanders’ Finest.”
The most sacred Sunday of Flemish cycling arrives this Sunday, April 5, and the biggest stars are coming to worship at its altar of harsh cobbles and steep Hellingen.
Tadej Pogačar, is (like always) the man to beat over the terrible trio of the Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, and Koppenberg.
All the usual bruisers – Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, Mads Pedersen et al – will be hoping to prevent King Pog from defending his title and winning Flanders a third time.
The defending champion is a top favorite on the women’s side, too. Lotte Kopecky is in hot form and targeting a record fourth victory in Oudenaarde.
Who might stop the “winningest woman of Flanders?”
If it’s not Kopecky’s very own teammate Lorena Wiebes, look to Elisa Longo Borghini, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, and the FDJ double-threat of Demi Vollering and Elise Chabbey.
